Richard Stanford

Chief Technical Officer

Richard has an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He has over 10 years’ experience in African renewable energy and has worked on projects in South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and Chad. Before joining CrossBoundary, he was the Uganda Country Manager for Cambridge Clean Energy responsible for development, implementation and operational management of power projects as well as general management of the Uganda office. Prior to moving to Uganda, Richard worked for Arup Engineering Consultants in South Africa providing technical advisory services for utility and commercial scale solar projects. During this time, Richard was also part of the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA) Rooftop PV Subcommittee and contributed to the South African Solar Energy Technology Roadmap (SETRM) as a technical specialist contributor for PV. Richard is the Technical Director for CrossBoundary Energy. He is responsible for technical due diligence, pre-feasibility and feasibility assessments, design oversight, contractor management, and general technical support on behalf of CrossBoundary Energy. Richard is based in CrossBoundary’s Nairobi office.
