Nigerian Breweries is a leading beverage company in Nigeria, looking for an energy solution that would fit into their “Brew a better world” initiative by reducing carbon emissions and maintaining reliable power for its operations. CrossBoundary Energy’s solar PV plant provides clean, reliable energy to the brewery.

The Ibadan Brewery is located in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, and is one of Nigerian Breweries’ largest breweries. It produces a variety of beer and non-alcoholic beverages that are enjoyed by consumers across Nigeria and other African countries. The company’s operations involve sourcing high-quality raw materials, brewing, packaging, and distributing their products to various markets across the country.

CrossBoundary Energy’s solution for the brewery includes a 600 kWp roof-mounted solar PV solution, a 2.51 MWp ground-mounted solar PV array, and a 2.06 MWh battery energy storage solution (BESS). Once fully constructed, the energy asset will provide the brewery with at least 20% of the plant’s electricity from renewable sources.

As part of their commitment to sustainability, Nigerian Breweries has implemented various sustainability initiatives, including water conservation, energy efficiency, and waste reduction programs. They are also committed to sourcing raw materials sustainably and working with local farmers to promote sustainable farming practices.

The first phase of the project, commissioned in 2021, was the first of its kind in Nigeria.
